What happened at Battle of Yorktown?
When British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and his army surrendered to General George Washington’s American force and its French allies at the Battle of Yorktown on October 19, 1781, it was more than just a military win.
- George Washington combined his army 4,000 French troops under the command of Comte de Rochambeau.
- Cornwallis found himself trapped with 16,000 American and French soldiers.
What were the weaknesses of the Continental Army at the start of the war?
Lack of supplies, inexperienced soldiers, short enlistments, financial issues, and poor equipment.
