What are seizures?
A
- Sudden attack of altered behaviour, consciousness, sensation or autonomic function
- Causes by a transient disruption of brain function

A
- Focal onset
- Generalised onset
- Unknown onset

Key findings to know for seizures?
A
- Time of onset
- What caused the seizure if known? Mechanism of injury
- Associated symptoms
- PmHx e.g. epilepsy, infection
- Medication compliance
- Allergies

Treatment for seizures?
A
- Midazolam
- Supportive measures e.g. Oxygen
- Protect pt from injury
- Consider reversible causes e.g. hypoglycaemia, hyperthermia

Adult Midazolam dose for seizures?
A
- IM: 5mg, repeat 5min, 15mg max dose
- IV: 2.5mg, repeat 5 min, 15mg max dose

Paediatric Midazolam dose for Seizures?
A
- IM/IV/IO: 0.15mg/kg, repeat 5min, max dose 0.45mg/kg (up to 15mg total)
