benzodiazepines modes of action

A

mainly on the limbic system

BZD act on receptors in the CNS to enhance the effect of GABA by inhibiting its re-uptake. GABA inhibits neurotransmission. GABA is on the cerebral cortex and motor circuit and ban are close to GABA receptors
benzodiazepines also mimic glycerin which is a inhibitory neurotransmitter in the spina cord
