A child with CD is often associated with an insecure attachment w/ parents (inconsistent or unavailable parents)!

• Parents learn effective parenting practices to deal with kids with ODD or Cd. Bc a lot of times, CD are reinforced bc of ineffective parenting practices.
  (ex: a parent yells at a child for exhibiting bad behaviors and thus the child will continue to exhibit this behavior bc of the parent attention.)

What types of interventions seem helpful for the treatment of CD?

Answer 3

1) parent management training
- teaching parents how to reinforce good behavior from their child while ignoring and not reinforcing the bad behavior (ex: by yelling)

2) child learns social problem-solving skills
- learning how to manage their behavior! (and perform more adaptive responses to others!)
