What does GI stand for? Define.
Geographical indicator. This can be a huge area or even a single vineyard.
What does PDO stand for? (this is EU only)
Protected Designation of Origin (PDO)
What does PGI stanf for? (this is EU only)
Protected Geographic Indication (PGI)
How is a PDO different from a PGI?
A PDO is a specific region, smaller area, with tightly defined regulations concerning irrigation, winemaking techniques. A PGI is more lax, allows winemakers to use a variety of grapes in a blend even those that are non-traditional (like a Chardonnay in a wine from rhone)

False. If an old world wine has a PDO label it rarely presents the wine. It counts on the user to know that a Chablis is a Chardonnay.

Indicazione Geografica Tipica (ICT) this is like the French Vins de Pays.
