What are the two types of emergency?
Planned - adequate time to prepare pax and cabin for landing
Unplanned - occurs inflight or on ground and requires immediate landing/ditching/evacuation with no time to prepare
What happens if the cabin depressurises and cabin alt reaches 14000 ft?
Oxygen masks fall
PA volume increases to max
Pre recorded message plays instructing pax to don masks
What are your immediate actions if the oxygen masks deploy in the cabin?
Obtain nearest drop down mask
Secure trolley as best as possible
Sit down and fasten seat belt even if required to seat on passenger
What are the 3 sides to the fire triangle?
Heat
Fuel
Oxygen
What does the PA “Attention Crew at Stations” mean and what are your actions?
Potential emergency situation
Withdrawn from any service duties
Secure trolleys or cabin service equipment
Proceed to assigned position and await further instructions
In an emergency how would the Captain summon the Purser to the FD?
PA “Purser to the FD”
Hi/Lo chimes x 3
Purser reports with EPB for NITS
CC withdraw from service duties
Secure trolleys or cabin service equipment
Proceed to assigned position and await further instructions
Give me two examples of when you can self-initiate an emergency evacuation?
An obvious and self-sustaining fire
Exaggerated nose-down, tail-down or wing-down attitude
Ditching
Sounds that would indicate the ac is breaking up
In the decent during an emergency situation what would the captain say at 2000 ft?
“Crew seats for landing”
Your in the decent during an emergency situation and you hear the captain say “Brace Brace” what is the aircrafts height?
500 ft
On hearing the PA “Attention Crew - Immediate Landing” what are your actions?
Immediately take seat if not seated already
Adopt the Brace position
Shout the following command until ac comes to a stop; “Brace Brace - Heads Down”

The EXIT signs will come on
The cabin lighting comes on 100%
The FASTEN SEST BELT and NO SMOKING signs come on
(Lavatory RETURN TO SEAT signs do not illuminate and Lavatory occupied sign comes on red)
What physiological signs of a slow decompression may be evident in Crew or Pax?
Pain in the ears and sinuses
The need to breathe rapidly
Dizziness
Increased tiredness
Tunnel vision
Altered consciousness
What equipment is available to us to fight fires?
BCF Extinguishers
Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE)
Protective Gloves
Axe
Non-Flammable Liquids
What does the PA “CABIN CREW BACK UP TO THE FLIGHT DECK” mean and what are your actions?
FD require extra assistance to deal with a fire.
Nearest CC should collect fire fighting equipment and don PBE before entering FD to assist.
How would you self initiate a planned or unplanned ground evacuation?
“EVACUATE EVACUATE”
“UNFASTEN YOUR SEATBELT - NO BAGGAGE - GET OUT”
