ventricular fibrillation (VF)

A

abnormal, fast, irregular beat of the heart
Majority of the heart arrests are due to VF, at least initially.
Electrical defibrillation is a well established treatment. Automated external defibrillators are devices that deliver the necessary controlled electric shocks to terminate VF

what is primary survey (DR.ABC) and what is it assessing?

A

the primary survey is concerned with assessing the casualty for life threatening injuries and taking immediate and appropriate action at each stage;
D-Danger - is there any danger to yourself or the casualty
R-Response - is the casualty responsive?
A-Airway - is the airway open and clear?
B-Breathing - is the casualty breathing normally?
C-Circulation - is there any severe bleeding?

A

“Can you call me an ambulance and tell them we`ve got unconscious adult who is NOT breathing. I am about to start CPR and bring me back a defib”
