physical body
nadi system
includes pathways, or energetic cords in the body that convey energy and byproducts. Three main nadis are related to prana, or the breath of life.
ida
nadi, left channel of the body and carries lunar energy
pingala
nadi, right channel and carries solar energy
sushumna
nadi, dormant most of the time, except for 10 breaths per hour where we switch the nostril we’re breathing throw; runs up the spine and passes through the chakras. The ida and pingala spiral up and around it.
fascia
fibrous tissue that wraps and covers muscular system
meridians
additional lines of energy that help so control and stimulate organ function, directly related to the gross nadis in our physical bodies
pranayama kosha
energetic/breath body, fules the life force, sustaining the entire organism
manomaya kosha
mental body
vijnanamaya kosha
intellectual body, knowledge sheath, seat of wisdom where our psychic energy lives, internal compass
anandamaya kosha
bliss body, seat of the soul, pure awareness
flexion
when muscles contract and pull bones closer together
extension
when bones move away from each other
axial skeleton
made up of bones along the body’s vertical axis, including the vertebral column, skull, spine, rib cage
