Secondary Flight Controls Flashcards
Name the secondary flight controls.
Flap
Speedbrake
Are the secondary flight controls:
A) Hydraulically operated and hydraulically actuated?
B) Hydraulically operated and electronically actuated?
C) Electronically operated and hydraulically actuated?
D) Electronically operated and electronically actuated?
C) Electronically operated and hydraulically actuated.
What is the flap limiting speed?
150kts
How is the acceptable flap range displayed on the ASI?
As a white band.
Give the angle of the flaps relative to the underside of the wing when in the following positions:
A) UP
B) T/O
C) LDG
A) O degrees
B) 23 degrees
C) 50 degrees
What is the speedbrake limiting speed?
There is no speed limit on the speedbrake
Will normal flap operation be available if the Bat Bus has failed?
No.
Will normal flap operation be available if the Aux Bat is the only source of electrical power?
No.
What will happen to the flaps if power to the flap control circuit is lost?
The flaps will automatically retract to the UP position.
What effect does extending the speedbrake have on the pitch of the aircraft?
It causes the nose to pitch up, but this is reduced slightly by an automatic connection to the elevators. Note that if the power is not changed to compensate for the extra drag, the resultant deceleration will cause the aircraft to pitch down.
Under which circumstances will the speedbrake automatically retract?
When T/O or LDG flap is selected.
When the throttle is moved to/ near to Max.
