For a woman’s first pregnancy, when can she expect to begin to feel baby move?
Between 18 and 21 weeks

When is the polycose (glucose challenge test) offered?
Between 24 and 28 weeks
What is the procedure for polycose?
- Advise woman she can eat prior to the test but something small and not sugary
- Only water
- Give woman a sugary drink on arrival, asked to wait for one hour, blood test taken
When is a glucose tolerance test indicated?
- High risk
- Previous high polycose result,
- History of GDM in previous pregnancies
- Familial history
Glucose tolerance test process?
Don’t eat for minimum of eight hours, blood test on arrival, give sugary drink, blood test again, compare pre and post blood sugar to observe reaction to sugar from baseline
When are second trimester bloods taken?
Between 24 and 28 weeks
When can women receive the flu vaccination?
At any point
When should woman start sleeping on their side during pregnancy?
28 weeks
When can woman receive the whopping cough vaccination in pregnancy?
From 16 weeks
What is tested for in the second trimester bloods?
- FBC (hb, platelets, WBC)
- Antibodies
- Ferritin
