Second Lab Practical Flashcards
what is the epicardium
the epicardium is the exterior part of the heart.
what is the base of the heart?
the base of the heart is the top of the heart where all the veins and arteries enter
what is the myocardium
the myocardium is the middle part of the heart
auricle
the auricle is another name for the left and right atriums
the pectinate muscle
the muscle tissue of the attrium
mediastinum
the mediastinum is the medial cavity where the heart lives
the coronary sulcus
the coronary sulcus is like a external border on the heart between the left ventricle and atrium
anterior/posterior interventriular sulcus
separates the two ventricles and give the ventricles blood
trabeculae carnae
The interior surface of the ventricles has a pitted and ridged appearance
chordae tendineae
Tiny white collagen cords, called chordae tendineae (literally, “heart strings”),
anchor the cusps to the ventricular walls.
papillary muscles
The chordae tendineae originate from small bundles of cardiac muscle, called papillary muscles, that project from the myocardial wall.
what is the trachea
the trachea is the tube that carries food
name all the veins in the abdomen
renal, hepatic, gonadal, I./S. mesenteric, hepatic portal
name all the veins of the arm
cephalic, axillary, brachial, median cubital, radial, ulnar, basilic.
veins of the leg.
fibular, P/A tibial, femoral, Great Saphenous, small saphenous, popliteal.
T3 hormone
triiodothyronine
parts of the heart
coronary sulcus, A/P interventricular sulcus, pectinate muscles, trabeculae carnae, papillary muscles, chordae tendinae
what are the the three main types of blood
Erythrocyte (RBC)
Leukocyte (WBC)
platelets
what are the five types of WBC
neutrophil lymphocyte Eosinophil Basophil Monocyte
what is the order of most common to least common WBC
neutrophil lymphocyte monocyte eosinophil basophil
what does a neutrophil look like
it has four or five large polka dots with a clear outside
basophile
looks like it has lots of grains to it
monocyte
hard u shape
eosinophil
soft U shape
lymphocyte
one large blob with a clear outside
platelets
smallest parts of the blood
Erythrocytes
bilobed platelet looking things
hemocytoblast
dark colored cells in the histology slides
megakaryocyte
the larger light purple cells in histology
stroma
the smaller cells in the green histology slide
