What is a primary search?
A rapid initial search of all the safely accessible places in and around the fire . To ascertain safety if occupants. Carried out in early stages of the fire
What is a secondary search?
Conducted more thoroughly after the fire suppression has been completed
What is RECEO and what does it mean?
RECEO
RESCUE - Protecting people
EXPOSURES - Protecting uninvolved properties and environments outside of the structure of fire
CONTAINMENT - Protecting uninvolved property within structure of fire
EXTINGUISH - Protecting property by eliminating fire
OVERHAUL- Beginning process of normality to scene
What is the order of priority in Search and rescue?
- The occupants most severely threatened.
- The largest group of occupants.
- The remaining occupants within the building involved.
- The occupants in exposed areas.
What are the considerations when conducting a “size up”?
Facts - what are the essential facts of the incident?
Probabilities - what are the probabilities of the incident
Own situation - what resources do I have at my disposal to deal with these facts and
probabilities of the incident
Decision - fight it or leave it?
Plan of operation - A SMART objective that explains how we will attack or deal with
the incident.
