overcome - verb, he is disturbed, shaken, affected by emotions of regret!
penitence - abstract noun, scrooge feels sorriw and regret, he understands he has donewrong, shows his change because he is comprehending the weight of his ignorant words
grief - abstract noun, intense sorrow, scrooge is in anguish/ is remorseful because of his own ignorance he is changing
