What is the scoring system to calculate 1 year risk of getting a major bleed ?
HASBLED - used to calculate risk before starting anticoagulation therapy such as for AF
What is CHA(2)DS(2)VASc ?
Calculates the yearly percentage chance of suffering a stroke for patients with non-valvular AF (should be used alongside other tools)
What is NIHSS?
Assesses patients new disability following from acute stroke and used to track improvement post thrombolysis
What is HEART?
Aids risk stratification in acute medicine for angina vs acute coronary syndromes
What scoring system is used for assessing severity of pancreatitis?
Modified glasgow criteria --> PANCREAS Pao2 <8 kpa Age >55 Neutrophilia Calcium <2 mmol/L Renal function - urea >16 mmol/L Enzymes - LDH, AST or ALT Albumin <32g/L Sugar <10 mmol/L
What system/value is used to differentiate the cause of ascites?
SAAG value
If the SAAG value is above 1.1 mg/dl what is the most likely causes?
Intrahepatic mostly... Cirrhosis Alcoholic hepatitis Cardiac ascites etc.
If SAAG value is below 1.1 mg/dl
Extrahepatic
Pancreatic or biliary ascites
Nephrotic syndrome
Tuberculous peritonitis
