What are the RED FLAG symptoms of scleritis?
A
Severe pain (may be worse on movement) and tenderness May be underlying autoimmune disease e.g. rheumatoid arthritis

A
Red eye
Classically painful (unlike episcleritis)
Watering and photophobia
Gradual decrease in vision

What is scleritis?
A
Scleritis is a serious inflammatory disease that affects the white outer coating of the eye, known as the sclera. The disease is often contracted through association with other diseases of the body, such as granulomatosis with polyangiitis or rheumatoid arthritis.
