Scientific Skills Flashcards
what is scientific method? and state steps
specific way of conducting an investigation to provide empirical information
- observation+ question= hypothesis
- aim
- design investigation/ experiment
- run investigation
- analyse results
what is hypothesis. 3 points
Likely answer to a question of an observation. It includes variables, cause and effect an is testable.
Difference between valid, reliable, accurate and fair?
valid- experiment set up so that results are due to variable being tested and not something else
Reliable- same results when repeated+ bigger sample
Accurate- handled with care and mathematically accurate
Fair- only independent variable differs the control and experiment
3 Different variables?
independent- factor manipulated
dependent- changes that independent variables cause (measurable)
fixed- Factors that are kept constant
Table Dep on which side and InDep on?
indep left
dep right
