Science Test #3, Set 11 (Microscopes) Flashcards
How do microscopes produce magnified images?
They bend the light that passes through them
Explain the difference between a simple and compound microscope
A simple microscope only has one lense, where a compound lense has two. Compound microcsopes have much higher magnification
What is the total magnification and how do you calculate it?
You multiply the ocular lense power by the power of the objective lense
How does your field of view/depth of field change as you use the microscope at different magnifications?
When the magnification of the microscope is higher, the specimen is enlarged and fine detailes are visible.
What is the difffernce between magnification and resolution?
Magnification is when the specimine is enlared and resolution is the clarity of the image.
