Refugee
A person who flees to a foreign country or power to escape war, persecution or natural disaster.
Migrant
A person who moves away from his or her place of usual residence, whether within a country or across an international border, temporarily or permanently, and for a variety of reasons.
Internally displaced person (IDP):
A person that is forced to leave their home for reasons like war, persecution or natural disaster, but does not cross international borders.
Host country
A country that hosts many refugees or IDPs in housing or camps.
Asylum seeker
A person looking protection out of the country. An asylum-seeker is someone whose claim has not yet been finally decided on by the country in which they have submitted it. Not every asylum seeker will ultimately be recognized as a refugee, but every refugee is initially an asylum-seeker.
