Science is another metanarrative that attempts to provide a picture of the ‘truth’
What does Lyotard (postmodernist) say about science?
Science has become a technoscience that simply exists to serve capitalist interest by producing commadities to make a profit
What are Mertons CUDOS norms?
Communism = scientific knowledge should be shared
Universalism = all scientists are equal so they should not take their work being challenged personally
Disinterestedness = scientists should be committed to the truth
Organised scepticism = all knowledge should be challenged
Impact of science on religion
Science may have led to the decline in religion. However, millions of people are still religious.
