paranoid schizophrenia
powerful delusions and hallucinations but few other symptoms
hebephrenic schizophrenia
involves mainly negative symptoms
catatonic schizophrenia
disturbance to movement leaving sufferer immobile or overactive
positive symptoms
additional experiences beyond those of ordinary existence eg hallucinations and delusions

unusual sensory experiences,mat be related to events in the environment but can be of no relevance, can be experienced in related to any sense
delusions
irrational beliefs, can take a range of forms eg believing you have super powers or that the government is out to get you, can make the sufferer act in ways that seem bizzare to others but makes sense to them
negative symptoms
loss of usual abilities and experiences eg speech poverty and avolition
avolition
finding it difficult to keep up with or start goal oriented activities,sharply reduced motivation, signs include poor hygiene, lack of persistence in work or school and lack of energy
speech poverty
reduction in the amount and quality of speech, sometimes accompanied with delayed verbal responses, speech becomes disorganised or the speaker changes topic mid sentence
