Three phases of schizophrenia
Prodromal–Prior to first psychotic break
Psychotic/active–loss of touch with reality
Residual–period btw psychotic episodes, in touch with reality, but doesn’t behave normally
Abnormalities in frontal lobes
Hypofrontality–decreased glucose in prefrontal cortex
Neurological abnormalities
Hypofrontality
Lateral and 3rd ventricle enlargement
Loss of asymmetry
Decreased volume of hippocampus, amygdala and parahippocampal gyrus
