Describe the auditory hallucinations experienced by schizophrenic patients

What is meant by positive symptoms and negative symptoms?
Positive are additional symptoms that wouldn’t normally be experienced
Negative is equivalent to apathetic feelings
What is the drug pathway involved?
2nd generation anti-psychotic for 6-8weeks -> 1st or 2nd generation 6-8wks -> consider clozapine

Olanzapine
What is the most common side effect of 1st generation anti-psychotics?
2nd generation?
1st - EPSE (extra pyramidal side effects e.g. acute dystonic reaction - body seizes up involuntary)
2nd - weight gain and sedation

D2 = dopamine

Disorganised (complete random words with no sense)
