History - you cannot observe sleep when talking to someoine
When do you conduct a mental state examination (MSE)?
When you are taking a history - which can with the initial visit last up to an hour

A patient is experiencing hallucinations. They describe them to you but are not actively experiencing any during the consultation. What part would this be recorded under history or examination?
History as it’s a patient’s account
Would come under examination only if patient experienced this during consultation
What is the difference between mood and affect?
Mood is how the patient is feeling TODAY in their OWN WORDS
Affect is how they feel generally and if they reactive or unreactive
If someone is described as having an euthymic affect what does that mean?
Just generally being in an averagely good mood
What is this a definition of;
‘A perception without a stimulus’?
Hallucination
What is meant by insight?
An idea of what the paitent believes is wrong with them.
Do they agree with their diagnosis?
Do they agree with meds? Why do they take them?
