SBI unit 4 circulatory Flashcards
What is coronary heart disease, angina, stroke, Rheumatic heart disease, congenital hear disease,
coronary heart disease: blood supply to heart is blocked by fatty substance in the coronary
angina: heart not enough blood + oxygen
stroke: brain get no blood :(
Rheumatic heart disease:heart valves damaged
congenital heart disease: a lot of fucked up heart structure problems
What is diffusion?
Air moves from highly concentrated air in lungs → non-concentrated area in bloodstream → air moved through bloodstream to tissue
what is countercurrent exchange?
Oyxenagated water flows over gills, while de-oxenagted blood in capillaries flow the opposite direction
Oxygen passes from the water to the deoxegated blood cuz diffusion
Functions of circulatory system
- Transport gasses, nutrients, waste, and chemical substances from other systems
- Regulate internal temperature
- Protect against blood loss and diseases
Double Circulatory Systems
- The circulatory system in mammals
- Keeps circulating oxenagated and deoxygenated blood circulating separately
- Pulmonary circulation: **blood goes heart → lungs →heart **
- Systematic circulation: blood goes heart →body
- Cardiac circulation: rout of blood within the heart
whats in blood?
55% plasma(volume, and pressure of blood)
45% solid portions (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platetes)
- red blood cells:no nucleolus, deliever gasses
- white blood cells:fight infection has nucleolus
- platetes: no nucleus, short life span, secretes fibrin to helps blood clotting
What is hemoglobin?
The molecule that carries oxygen in red blood cells
closed vs open circulatory system.
Closed: continuous flow one dirrection
open: enters body cavitites and re-enters vessels through tiny pores
