SB1a Microscopes Flashcards
What features does electron microscope have?
An electron microscope has high magnification, a
high resolution
let us see small things in more detail, like internal of mitochondria, and chloroplast
What is meant by resolution?
how well a microscope distinguishes between 2 points, that are close together
why some cell structures can be seen
with an electron microscope but not with a
light microscope.
As they are close together, and with electron having high resolution, then it can be seen
Calculate total magnification using a formula.
total magnification=eyepiece lens magnification x objective lens magnification
Calculate sizes using magnifications
magnifications=image size/real size
What features does light microscope have?
low magnification
low resolution
cannot see very clearly in cells
Light microscope magnification
1000 to 2000x
how do electron microscopes work?
use beams of electrons, to visualise specimen.
electron microscope resolution
2000000x
