SAT Math Level 2 - TRIGONOMETRY Flashcards
Sin0 =
O / H (opposite over hypotenuse)
Cos0 =
A / H (adjacent over hypotenuse)
Tan0 =
O / A (opposite over adjacent)
csc0 =
1 / sin0 = H / O (hypotenuse over opposite)
sec0 =
1 / cos0 = H / A (hypotenuse over adjacent)
cot0 =
1 / tan0 = A / O (adjacent over opposite)
Two special Triangles
45 - 45 - 90
30 - 60 - 90
45 - 45 - 90 Triangle
Hypotenuse = square root 2x
Other 2 sides = x
30 - 60 - 90 Triangle
Hypotenuse = 2x
Opposite 30 degrees = x
Opposite 60 degrees = square root 3
Area of equilateral triangles
square root 3 / 4 x length squared
Heron’s Formula
If you have the 3 lengths of the triangle but no angles
work out the semiperimeter
s = (a + b + c) / 2
Area = square root (s (s - a)(s - b)(s - c) )
180 degrees =
Pi Radians
1 + tan squared 0 =
sec squared 0
1 + cot squared 0 =
csc squared 0
sin0 = (sin, cos or tan)
cos( 90 - angle )
