SAT Math Level 2 - MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS Flashcards
Finite Limits
These are where x gets closer to a particular number
3 stage process:
1) Factor
2) Cancel out terms
3) Take the number under the lim sign and substitute that number into what’s left of the expression
Infinite Limits
They key equation to remember is that 1 / infinity = 0
Converse Proof
To get the converse of a conditional statement, you change the places of X and Y
Contrapositive Proof
Suppose we have a conditional sentence of the form
If X, then Y
To get the contrapositive of the conditional statement, you make this conditional:
If not Y, then not X
Counterexample Proof
A counterexample is an example which proves that a particular claim is wrong
Magnitude of a vector
a | = use Pythagoras to find magnitude
Unit vector
has a magnitude 1
i =
square root negative 1
i squared =
-1
Conjugate of a + bi =
a - bi
etc. 7 + 2i = 7 - 2i and -6i = 6i
If you multiply a complex number by its conjugate, you get a real number
