SAT Math Level 2 - SOLID GEOMETRY Flashcards
Volume of sphere
4/3 x Pi x radius cubed
Volume of Cone
1/3 x Pi x radius squared x h
Volume of Pyramid
1/3 x base area x height
Volume of Prism
base area x height
Surface area of sphere
4 x Pi x radius squared
Surface area of cone (not including base)
Pi x radius x slant length
Surface area of cylinder
2 x Pi x radius(radius + height)
“Inscribe” a shape
Put one shape inside another so that all the vertices are on the faces of the second shape
- The shape around the outside is “circumscribed” around the inside shape
Solids of revolution
If you take a curve in the plane and rotate it 360 degrees about a line, often the x or y axis, you will get a solid 3D shape called a solid of revolution
Similar shapes
If the lengths of figures A and B are in the ratio a:b,
Then their surface areas are in the ratio a^2:b^2
and their volumes are in the ratio a^3:b^3
