What is sarcoidosis?
A
Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disorder of unknown aetiology characterised by non-caseating granulomas.
>more common in young adults and in people of African descent.

What are the features of sarcoidosis?
A
- acute: erythema nodosum, bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy, swinging fever, polyarthralgia
- insidious: dyspnoea, non-productive cough, malaise, weight loss
- skin: lupus pernio

What investigations are required for a diagnosis of sarcoidosis?
A
No one diagnostic test and hence diagnosis largely clincical
- CXR
- Spirometry
- tissue biopsy
