What is sarcoidosis?

A

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disorder of unknown aetiology characterised by non-caseating granulomas.

What are the features of sarcoidosis?

A
  • acute: erythema nodosum, bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy, swinging fever, polyarthralgia
  • insidious: dyspnoea, non-productive cough, malaise, weight loss
  • skin: lupus pernio

What investigations are required for a diagnosis of sarcoidosis?

A

No one diagnostic test and hence diagnosis largely clincical
