Q

What are the assumptions of the unrelated t-test?

A

Interval data - DV has to be on a scale
Data from normally distributed population
Homogeneity of variance
Robust test - some leeway in assumptions

Q

What is homogeneity of variance?

A

The variance of groups should not be significantly different

Need to be checked when:
- unrelated design
- sizes of groups are different

See if differences are due to IV and not based on the fact that there is distinct people

Q

What is Levene’s test?

A

Whether or not you have met homogeneity assumption
Assumption is met if Levene’s test is not significant - the 2 groups are similar

If Levene not significant - report line for equal variance assumed
If Levene significant - report 2nd line

Q

What do we report for unrelated t-test?
