Pancha Vayus
First energy that goes toward the core, the naval. This force lifts us out of collapsing into our joints (i.e., core work, arm balances, twists)
Samana vayu
Second energy that goes downward. A grounding force that allows us to root down in order to rise. Releases our physical and emotional waste (i.e., squats, uttkatasana, pigeon, frog, lunar poses)
Apana vayu
Third force of rising energy (related to our speech and our voice…yelling, shouting, owing)
Udana vayu
Forth force of outward, omnidirectional (expressing creative energy)

Fifth force of circulating energy especially in the thoracic region; things that involve an inhale (up dog)
