Sampling Flashcards
Pros + cons of random sample
+ limited researcher bias - so will be representative + generalised to TP
- unrepresentative sample - lacks population validity
- time consuming - not representative to TP so cannot generalised findings
P + C of opportunity sample
+ quick and easy method = practical method to use COMPARE to stratified sample
+ ethical = p.pants are considered and research is not being forced upon them
- biased sample = unrepresentative + not generalisable to TP
P + C of volunteer sample
+ practical
+ ethical = consents are received to take part in the research
- bias sample = can be bias and unrepresentative + not generalised to TP
P + C of systemic sample
+ limited searcher bias = spread evenly across TP = representative + generalised
- unrepresentative sample = cannot generalised
- time consuming = not practical as may not be relevant anymore once ample has been gathered = can’t generalise findings
P + C of stratified sample
+ representative sample = divided into groups = representative + generalised
- time consuming = will take long time + not practical
