Where would you see a parotid swelling?
Travels down face into anterior triangle.
Where would you see a submandibular swelling?
IN the superior portion of the anterior triangle under the angle of mandible?
How would a salivary stone present?
Dry mouth.
Pain and swelling over the gland that is made worse by eating.
Pain under the tongue if submandibular.
O/e Red swollen and tender submandibular gland with potentially palpable stone.
INvestigation of salivary stones?
Mouth x ray.
Saliography (mouth x-ray with dye)
Management of salivary stone?
Sialoendoscopty.
Management of salivary gland infection?
Flucloxacillin and metronidazole for 5/7. Usually causes by staph aureus?
Bilateral parotid swelling
Mumps.
Most common benign tumour of the parotid?
Pleomorphic adenoma
Bilateral tumour of parotid in men> 50?
Warthin’s Tumour.
Presentation of malignant parotid tumour?
Painful mass on parotid with facial nerve palsy
Most common malignant salivarytumpour?
Adenoid cystic carcinoma.
