A
Traction device that reduces bleeding, muscle spasm, pain and provides immobilisation.

A
Suspected fracture of shaft of femur.

Contraindications
A
None.

A
Time critical injuries.
Suspected fracture of pelvis.
Suspect fracture of foot or ankle.

Complications
A
Accidental retraction if not locked into place.

Procedure
A
- Assess limb baselines.
- Provide pain relief.
- Explain procedure & gain consent.
- Provide manual traction and align limb.
- Fit sager appropriately.
- Apply traction.10% body weight, max 7kg unilateral, 14kg bilateral.
- Apply sager straps over legs.
- Reassess limb baselines.
- Document application.
