Safety And Health Programs Flashcards
Workplace violence
Report all direct or indirect threats and actual violence to your supervisor. Cases will be documented by the Attorney Generals office. Incidents will be investigated and actions will be taken.
Alcohol and Drug-Free Workplace
The state has a zero tolerance for employees that consume drugs and alcohol while on duty. Being caught could result in disciplinary action or termination.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in public buildings, as well as near entrances and exits. The minimum distance away from a building to smoke is 30ft, and must be far enough away to not have smoke waft into the building.
Discipline
If your performance falls below standard, you will be promptly informed by your supervisor. If your conduct warrants disciplinary action, it will typically be of a progressive nature depending on severity.
Policy on Honorarium
State law prohibits state workers from accepting or receiving an honorarium, defined as a payment of money or anything of value, for an appearance or speech while acting as a public servant.
Political Activity
State workers can vote for whoever they want, although they can’t solicit or receive anything for a political purpose from someone in the same department. Employees also cannot engage in political activity during hours of state employment.
