Sacroiliac Joint Technologies Flashcards
What is the IFuse3D implant system used for?
It’s used for sacroiliac joint dysfunction which is a result from SIj disruption and degenerative sacroiliitis.
It is intended for SIJ fusion to augment stabilisation and immobilisation in skeletally mature patients undergoing sacropelvic fixation as part of lumbar or thoracacolumbar surgery.
These include acute, non acute and non traumatic fractures involving the SIJ.
What is Sacroiliitis?
It is an inflammation of one or both of your sacroiliac joints.
How many IFuse implants are used in an IFuse procedure and how are they implanted?
Typically 3 IFuse implants are used for the procedure and implanted via M.I.S.
What are the benefits of an IFuse?
- Titanium construction designed specifically to stabilise and fuse SIJ.
- Triangular shape minimises rotation.
- Porous titanium surface allows for bony on growth/in growth.
- Proven effectiveness, with 82% client satisfaction saying they would have surgery again for the same result.
What is the IFuse Bedrock device used for?
IFUSE Bedrock is placed across the SI Joint as adjunct to long fusion procedures with the intent of gaining fusions to augment immobilization of the SI joint.
What are the 3 features of the IFUSE Bedrock device?
Fixation, Fusion, Foundation
Why would you use the IFUSE Bedrock Implants?
There is a 29.4% rate of pelvic fixation failure following an adult spinal deformity surgery.
IFUSE3D Implants have a better success rate with IFUSE Bedrock during long construct deformity surgeries.
A study on Cadavers showed a 30% reduction in SI joint Motion and the S2AI (sacral-alar iliac) screws bending moments were reduced by 50%, leading to fewer breakages post-surgery when used together.
What are the Fixation Features of the IFUSE Bedrock?
- Rigid titanium construction and triangular implant geometry provide immediate stabilization.
- Unique design provides interference fit between the implant and the surrounding bone (cortical and cancellous bone).
- 6X greater rotational resistance vs. screw.
What are the Fusion Features of the IFUSE Bedrock?
- 3D printed implant with porous surface facilitates bone ongrowth.
- Fenestrated structure allows through growth and accommodates bone graft.
- Porous surface self harvests bone during insertion.
What are the Foundation Features of the IFUSE Bedrock?
- Immobilization and stabilization of the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) provides a foundation for long constructs that include spinopelvic fixation.
- 30% reduction in SI joint motion by adding iFuse Bedrock to sacral-alar iliac (S2AI) screws.
