What is a Cervical Disk Replacement
The Cervical disks are the cushions between your cervical vertebrae. When the space between the vertebrae become too narrow, they can press on your spinal cord and nerves. This cause numbness and pain. CDR involves removing this disk and replacing it with an artificial one. Before this was available, it was common the disks were fused.
How do spinal cages work?
Used for spinal fusion between two vertebrae.
It is designed as a cage so that a bone graft can be placed inside the hollow cylinder to allow spinal fusion to occur between two vertebrae. The holes in the cage allow the bone to grow through and around the cage connecting them into solid bone.
