Sacral Somatic Dysfunction Flashcards
1st step of sacra SD
2nd step
Place fingers (static) Motion testing
Look at Sacral Torsion at what angle
L5
Step 1 in static testing
Step 2 in static testing
Test Sacral Sulcus
Anterior Right SS = right side goes down more
Test inferior Lateral Angle
3 types of motion tests
- Lateralization
- Active Motion
- Passive Motion
Lateralization
Seated + forward bending
Active MT
Backward Bending
Respiratory Motion
Passive MT
Lumbosacral Spring Test
Oblique Axis Passive Motion
Seated Forward Bending Test (se FBT)
- fingers on PSIS pushing up
- pt bends forward
- TEST : the one thumb that is moved upward
- shows you side of SD (not type)
Bilateral Sacral SD has what Lateralization
- test
Sacral Torsion and Lateralization
The + side is the opposite of the axis side
So if R is + then the L side is the axis for the torsion
Backward Bending Test
- fingers on Sacral Sulcus (inside PSIS)
- pt lies down and push up back with elbows
- test : sacrum flexes forward
- TEST : sacrum doesn’t flex forward on both or one side (can look crooked)
Respiratory MT
- place hands on sacrum
- INHALE : sacrum moves post , EXTENSION
- EXHALE : sacrum moves ant, FLEXION
Lumbar Spring Test
- hand on lumbar spine, P down (extends lumbar + flexes sacrum)
- test : FLEXED sacrum
- TEST : EXTENDING sacrum
Sacroiliac Rocking Oblique Axis Test
Purpose
- to confirm torsion
= find axis side : with greatest motion
Sacroiliac Rocking Oblique Axis Test
How to do for left side
- left thumb : left ILA
- right thumb : right Sacral Sulcus (sacral base)
= press down one at a time to see how much the sacrum likes to rotate
(WITH LEFT AXIS)
*switch to asses right axis
