Publicly available resource, A bunch of people take a little, or a few people take a lot, resource runs out
Toilet paper during Co-vid. People got scared that they would run out of toilet paper, so a few people took a lot, leaving no toilet paper for anyone else.
Why should you buy food grown locally? (G)
LESS DISTANCE IS TRAVELED = less packaging, saves energy, lowers carbon footprint
SUPPORTING THE LOCAL ECONOMY—-local money gets reinvested locally, which helps the local economy. We keep farms in business so the land stays FARMLAND instead of being developed (MAINTAINS BIODIVERSITY)
SAFER SUPPLY—-fewer steps between the source and the consumer (LESS CHANCE OF CROSS-CONTAMINATION
Plan to lower ecological footprint
2 ways to use less resources
2 ways to produce less waste
2 ways to increase energy efficiency
WAYS TO USE LESS RESOURCES
Eat leftovers before making more food.
Take shorter showers and use of colder water (Will reduce the amount of water and carbon emissions, since you don’t need them to make cold water)
WAYS TO PRODUCE LESS WASTE
-Take batteries to a nearby recycle plant
-Create a compost in my kitchen
WAYS TO INCREASE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
-Change light bulbs to more energy efficient ones like CFL bulbs and LED light bulbs.
-Insulation slows the flow of heat (coming and going). For the same energy, the heat/cold last longer
-Carpooling (uses the same amount of energy to move more people
