s Flashcards
Coal Powered station
Coal is mined and transported to stations,
first large chunks of coal are crushed into powder this is known and called pulverisation, then the coal is transported to the furnace were it is burned, the thermal energy created by this then, boils the water and generates steam which the steam then pushes the blades of the turbine causing it to rotate large magnets with wire coils which generates electricity
Alternative energy sources,
Hydro electric power
The turbine uses the falling water to convert it to kinetic energy, the generator spins with metal coils in a magnetic field generating hydro power
Other examples of energy typed, a small generator or a dynamo
Portable generators run on fuel such as petrol and diesel to turn the shaft and generate electricity. They can be activated by a person turning a crank
