Run Game Terms Flashcards
Hang

Punch
Player takes a lead step to secure the width of the defense, then executes their assignment.
Wham
Backside guard does not block DT and instead Climbs.
Boss
Two back power where a player is kicking out the end man on the line of scrimmage.
Chop
Used on the play side of one-back power when a defender is outside the PST on the LOS. It can also be used when we have a TE and there is a C and D gap threat. The TE and PST will block the defenders out, moving the pull gap one gap inside.
Reach to Hinge
Player will reach to protect inside gap, if not threat appears, then play
will hinge to next backside threat.
U-him out
If the second level player overruns the called gap, we will not chase for
leverage, but instead establish inside position and take the defender out
Close the window
If a player other than the combo player threatens the inside gap,
we need to leave the combo and close the window…violently. This could be any
defensive player.

Overtake
When you are the lineman in the combo block that does not have to leave the initial double team to get the 2nd level Defender. Knock your teammate off to the 2nd level as you take on the whole Defender. Overtake is communicated you/you, me/me.
Emo
Takes of the combo and declares that one of the linemen is going to cut the defender.
