Pass Game Terms Flashcards
Half Slide Protection
Our QB will send us into a three man or four man slide, ending
with the backside guard in the slide not the center.
B.O.B. (Big on Big)
Man vs. Man protection, no slide.
States
The pass protection is sent to the right, with either the LG or Center ending the slide and the LT BOB backside.
Cities
The pass protection is sent to the left, ideally with the RG or Center ending the slide and the RT BOB backside.
Pass set
Shoulders are square to the line of scrimmage. Feet are apart helping us
maintain an athletic position. Our chin is up, and our belly button is out in front of our
chest to prevent us from leaning. Hands are close to our chest ready to fire and punch.
Post foot
Will always be the opposite foot of the gap or man you are blocking. This
takes away the inside from the defender. This foot will always be very close to the
ground.
Kick foot
This foot helps us set vertically and maintain our relationship between the
defender and the QB.
Hot
Is what we will yell when there is a walked up/shown blitz to alert the QB prior to the snap.
Hang
When a 2nd level defender who is already in the sort walks up outside the OT we will make a hang call. This will not change the sort tells the tackle he is to work 1 man wider.
Out
When there is an extra defender walked up from outside the initial sort, once called by the QB, will adjust the sort one linebacker over to account for the walked up Defender, the RB’s 1 to 2 read shift one over.
Delaware
When there is a hang and an out on the same play. To the Oline it is a hang call, and the back picks up the extra rusher.
CHOP Call
When in the 1⁄2 slide towards the 3 tech, if the 1 tech slants outside of the Backside Guard, he yells “CHOP” to let the Center no he is no longer in the slide and is now BOB vs. the slanting 1 tech
