How is air test done

A

-Roll the gauntlet tightly toward the palm so the trapped air will stretch the rubber

-Glove is then held firmly closed with one hand so that no air escapes

-Different parts of the glove are squeezed with the other hand to make certain that no air leaks exist.

Q

Inspecting rubber gloves pointers

A

Is there any base (yellow or red) rubber showing through the black surface?

Are the cuffs free of wood splinters, snags, and soft spots?

Will the gloves hold air when inflated?

Are the gloves clean, inside and out?
Are there any hairline cracks, or lines between the fingers of the gloves?

What was the last test date on your gloves, and are they due for test?

Never exceed the maximum-use voltage for rubber gloves. Many providers furnish proof test voltage of the glove, which should not be construed to mean the safe voltage on which the rubber gloves can be used.

If the employer performs the electrical tests on rubber gloves, the gloves should be given an inflated inspection. After the inflated inspection but before the electrical tests, rubber gloves must be stored for 24 hours to permit the rubber to relax back into its manufactured form.

Some manufacturers will patch rubber gloves in the cuff area, but most replace the rubber glove if any type of defect is found.
