what can we learn from the story of the woman with the haemorrhage?

A

“she came up behind him and touched his cloak… immediately her haemorrhage stopped”
“daughter, your faith has made you well”
- jesus’ authority (able to heal without the intention of doing so or who it was)
- when you have strong faith, the impossible can happen
- calls her daughter, showing he treated everyone equally

what are the costs of discipleship?

A

“let them deny themselves, carry their cross and follow me”

To deny self – ie to put the needs of others before your own needs
To take up the cross – ie to be prepared to accept suffering and death for your faith (as many of Mark’s readers did)
To follow Jesus - ie accepting Jesus as Lord and accepting his lifestyle

what can we learn from the commission and the acsension?

A

C: “ go into the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation”
- the disciples would preach the gospel
- those who believed would be able to cure the sick and drive out demons, filled w HS
A: “taken up to heaven and sat at the right hand of God”
- shows jesus as king, with God’s authority, symbol of power, Jesus IS the son of God
