1. sit down on the chair with good upright posture and eyes looking across the room.
2. place your non-dominant arm on the desk with your thumb and forefinger over the edge, ready to grip the ruler
3. your partner should hold the metre ruler, with 0 just above your thumb and randomly drop the ruler and you should catch it with your thumb and fingers
4. record the value the hand is at after the ruler had been caught
5. have a rest them repeat
6. use the conversion table to calculate the average reaction time
