16
Q

L5 sensory def

A

dorsum of foot to great toe

17
Q

L5 motor def

A

extensor hallucis longus and externsor digitorum longus

18
Q

L5 reflex def

A

none

19
Q

S1 sensory def

A

lateral border of foot

20
Q

S1 motor def

A

plantar flexion and eversion of foot

21
Q

S1 reflex def

A

dec or absent ankle jerk

22
Q

median nerve neuropathy clinically

A

numb/tingling first 4 digits; occ entire hand; may awake from sleep w/ symptoms; worse w/ exercise

23
Q

median nerve neuropathy exam

A

weak/atrophy thenar muscle, esp abdcutor pollicis brevis; dec sensation in first 4 fingers; tinel/phalen sign

24
Q

ulnar neuropathy clincally

A

paresthesia/pain in 5th digit and medial 4th; can involve median forearm/elbow; diff spreading fingers

25
Q

ulnar neuropathy exam

A

weakness in first dorsal interosseus, abductor digiti minimi; atrophy; claw hand

26
Q

radial neuropathy clinically

A

weakness of radial-innervated muscles; sensory loss on dorsum of hand

27
Q

radial neuropathy exam

A

weak: triceps, brachioradialis, supinator, wrist and finger extensors; triceps affected by axillary compression but spared by spiral groove compression; weak wrist extensors -> wrist drop

28
Q

etiology of radial neuropathy

A

compression at level of axilla (ie w/ crutches), spiral groove (sat night palsy), forearm

29
Q

meralgia paresthetica

A

lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh; burning sensation/variable loss of sensation over anterolateral thigh

30
Q

femoral neuropathy clinically

A

leg weakness on attempting to stand/walk; pain in anterior thigh

31
Q

femoral neuropathy exam

A

weak quads; absent/dec patellar reflex; sensory loss over anterior thigh; w/ saphenous involvement: medial leg/foot sesnory loss; adductors INTACT (differs from L2-L3 radiculopathy)

32
Q

femoral neuropathy cause

A

trauma from sx, stretch injury (prolonged lithotomy position in childbirth), DM/inflamm

33
Q

peroneal neuropathy clincally

A

foot drop w/ minimal sensory complaints

34
Q

peroneal neuropathy exam

A

weak of extensor hallicus longus, tib anterior (foot dorsiflexion) and peroneal muscles (foot eversion); mild sensory loss over dorsal foot

35
Q

peroneal neuropathy cause

A

entrapment of peroneal nerve b/w neck of fibula and insertion of peroneus longus muscle; usually due to trauma and compression
