Following the WWII, ngos from around the world came together under the agreement that the world would never again experience such widespread destruction

role of UN
to achieve co-operation from all states around the world, to help solve international problems and promotes respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms of every human being
Un agencies
plays an important role in world affairs, at the moment there are 15 UN agencies that have an impact on human rights issues
World Health Organisation
coordinates action on international health issues, sanitation and diseases and sends medical teams to help fight the spread of epidemics
International Monetary Fund
a part of the UN system and has a formal relationship with the UN, they provide monetary cooperation and financial stability and act as a forum for advice, negotiations and assistance on financial issues
World Bank group
consists of 5 international organisations that make loans to developing countries. they focus on developing countries in areas such as human argiculture and rural development etc
UNICEF
relies on donations and funding from governments around the world to provide children with services such as emergency food, shelter and healthcare
UN organisations
consists of general assembly, secretariat, security council, international court of justice, economic social council, trustee council, UN High Commissioner/for Refugees
general assembly
aim is to attain peace, security and disagreement, safeguard human rights and the rule of law, protect the environment, meet special needs of Africa and strengthen the UN
secretariat
carries out the day to day work of the UN as mandated by the general assembly and works in duty stations around the world with the goal of peacekeeping
