what cases are juries used for
A
- serious cases, eg Indictable, tried at CC
- weigh up evidence and decide on facts whether guilty or not

what do you Juries do
A
- they listen to evidence within the court and then all the juries decide on a unanimous vote and come to a verdict (whether defendant is guilty or not)
- this all happens in the jury room which consists of 12 people
- It is a criminal offence to talk to anyone else about the case
- Under the criminal justice 1974, the elected person must say the majority verdict
- there cannot be less than nine juries
