  • serious cases, eg Indictable, tried at CC

- weigh up evidence and decide on facts whether guilty or not

what do you Juries do

A
  • they listen to evidence within the court and then all the juries decide on a unanimous vote and come to a verdict (whether defendant is guilty or not)
  • this all happens in the jury room which consists of 12 people
  • It is a criminal offence to talk to anyone else about the case
  • Under the criminal justice 1974, the elected person must say the majority verdict
  • there cannot be less than nine juries
