Antagonizes acetylcholine at the motor end plate producing skeletal muscle paralysis without fasiculations
Indications for Rocuronium
Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI)
Maintenance of paralysis
Contraindications of Rocuronium
Known sensitivity to bromides. Use with caution in heart and liver disease
Adverse effects of Rocuronium
Bronchospasm, wheezing, rhonchi, respiratory depression, apnea, dysrhythmias, tachycardia, transient hypotension, and hypertension, NV
Adult dose of Rocuronium
0.6 to 1.2 mg/kg IV/IO
Pedi dose of Rocuronium
older than 3 months – 0.6 to 1.2 mg/kg IV/IO
Onset and duration of Rocuronium
Onset 1 to 2 minutes, duration 45 to 120 minutes
