economic recession - supply in demand - people no longer wanted weapons and artillery but household supplies and regular things - artillery damaged soldiers - no jobs for them

named by james weldon johnson - black soldiers seen as a threat to the US so when they came home they were lynched and murdered - rise of KKK - 25 cities torn apart 100s killed - black citizens begged for help - department said they couldn’t intervene/do anything - johnston brothers
Jazz and Harlem Renaissance
jazz became really popular - white press labeled it harlem renaissance bc started in places like harlem in NY - cotton clubs and other places started having black jazz entertainers
Prohibition and it’s results
nationwide ban on alcohol created speakeasies which led to people getting so drunk that they were murdering people
